What is it like to work with me?

Wedding Photography is one of the more emotionally intimate forms of photography. Anybody searching for one should know exactly who they are working with and the experience they will have, beyond professionalism and skill level. After all, we are all people, right? Here are five principles I live by for your client experience.

You won’t have to perform for me.

Gone are the days of fake laughter for photos, looking awkward and unnatural posing. I am here to adapt to your needs. This means giving gentle direction in a way that looks authentic to your personalities. You do not have to be a professional model or be an extrovert to get the look that you are going for. I like to give people space to interact naturally and get that documentary observation we love so much. I want to allow your real connection to unfold naturally. I give directions and pose with you so you know exactly what you are doing. When you look back at your photos later, you will feel like the images are real and capture you as your most raw, authentic self.

Your Family and Culture Matter Here

Weddings are more than the couple at the aisle, if you want it to be. Many times, family, culture, and honoring the traditions that shaped you are also high priorities on the list. You are welcome to include any traditions in your wedding without educating me on their significance. I capture it all.

You’ll Feel Calm on Your Wedding Day

While I cannot guarantee that nothing will go wrong on your wedding day, I can guarantee that I will help create a space for you to be present. This is not just a day you will get through. This means I help your coordinator keep things flowing efficiently. I organize your family photos confidently and with a calm, firm tone. I protect your emotional moments. I pull you aside from the chaos to take a breath from it all. I become an embodiment of your boundaries. And I adapt to what you need, even if that means stepping back from a moment.

Your Wedding Will Be Documented Honestly

You’re here because you’re not looking for an Instagram photoshoot wedding. If you love the documentary style photography that captures the realness of your day, you have come to the right place. My approach comes from a documentary storytelling perspective. I don’t stage very many moments. I look for the ones that are already happening. IF something is posed, it will look natural.

Your Photos will age beautifully

Long after the music ends and the flowers fade (unless you preserve them), your photographs remain. My goal is to create images that will still feel true to you and meaningful decades from now. This could mean we do some of the classic wedding photos that match your parents and grandparents photos to keep traditions going. Other times, it will mean I ask you to remove items that will date your photos. We will find a balance together.

The takeaways

What I desire for all my couples is the feeling of safety, culturally, emotionally, and in their wishes. I want you to feel like I know what I am doing, I know what you want, and I know how important it all is to you.

I hope this speaks to you. If it does, contact me here, and we can chat about what you want.
